Mykola Tomenko: The Idea of prolonging the Authorities of the Present-Day Constitution of the Parliament contravenes the Law, and fails to meet the Public Moods
Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, gave the interview to UNIAN information agency, and declared that the idea of the Party of Regions as to the prolonging of the authorities of the present-day Parliament controvenes the Law. "Prolonging of the parliament´s authorities, or, even, implementation of the so-called direct presidential rule have nothing in common with the Constitution, laws and public moods", he stated.
M. Tomenko emphasised that if there was an issue on the voting for the prolonging the authorities of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the opposition factions would not uphold it. "I shall never vote for it. I am convinced that the opposition will not uphold this proposal", he stated.
According to the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, one can only agree to the fact that permanent blocking of the Verkhovna Rada work strengthened the negative attitude towards the parliament and played up to the bill of the Party of Regions on the presidential republic. However, he is convinced that the alternative idea to restore the prestige of the discredited parliament can turn into either early elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine or efficient functioning of the Parliament.
